When Phil Robertson's son Jep was diagnosed with meningitis and encephalitis, Phil and Dr. Jesus didn't pray the infection away. They went to a HOSPITAL. Pure hypocrisy.

BTW, remember - when the government uses tax money to pay for health care for individuals, that is socialism and is very very bad. But when the government uses tax money to bail out huge banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions because they have made very stupid decisions and are about to implode the economy, that is is NOT socialism and is very very good. Just ask any really big Republican donor.

this is why conservatives are funny they don't want women to have the right to have a choice in abortion thinking they should keep the baby but at the same time don't want a healthcare plan that would cover said baby

If the term “socialism” triggers a negative reflex in you, know that it is responsible for several indispensable facets of American society, including but not limited to:

Just in case it's not clear to you... we have socialised medicine in Australia. But ours is every bit the capitalist economy that yours is. The government pays for roads in America right? And police? And defence? And air traffic control? And a million other public services? Does that make you socialist? Christ, y'alls education is in need of an upgrade.

I live in Canada, I was born here, I have never seen any kind of medical bill or invoice after any surgery or medication or any other procedure... none! I do have to pay a small amount for some medications sometimes, but mostly not!

The broad conservative rhetoric describes anything that tempers the excesses of a market economy as socialism.

I just love how rightwing americans keep talking about health care like it's a sportscar or a countryclub membership and not basic insurance that you won't have to die of pneunomia or an appendicitis and don't have to bankrupt yourself to safely birth children.

Those who believe medicaid for all is socialism, are you offended that your tax dollars go to federal programs like aviation safety or food safety? Does it offend you that a percentage of your taxes helps somebody outside your family not die in a car crash? Why does it offend you if somebody got emergency care on that same percentage then? We can vote for who runs it, that is why it is democratic. You cannot vote for how your private insurer is run, you are forced to find another....but it always costs you and it is chaos. In Canada, I do not every have to think about my health care. Except if I do not like how things are run, I can VOTE out the people running. That is DEMOCRACY not socialism. I wish you would all just try our health system for five years to see the benefits. The reductions in bankruptcies and increase in longevity alone would amaze you.

Phil Robertson suggesting that universal healthcare goes against Christianity is mind boggling to me.
